Shay Hancock joined Denny Miller
Associates in 2006, bringing nearly 15 years of Capitol Hill and
private-sector experience with him.
Before joining DMA, Shay served as a legislative assistant to
Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) (2003 - 2006), advising the Senator on national
defense and homeland security issues. Widely recognized as an expert
in cargo and supply chain security, Shay was a primary architect of
the GreenLane Maritime Cargo Security Act. He also was the Senator's
principal advisor on defense appropriations projects during his
tenure in her service.
Shay began his career with Senator Murray (1993-1997), before
serving as a legislative assistant for U.S. Representative Adam
Smith (D-WA) (1997-1998).
His private-sector experience includes 3 years as an Assistant Vice
President of a Fortune 100 company, where he served as the Aide to
the Chairman, President and CEO (1998-2001). Prior to rejoining
Senator Murray's staff in 2003, Shay was Vice President of The
Petrizzo Group, a
Washington, DC-based government relations consulting firm
(2001-2003).
