Sandra Windsor Mathiesen, Vice President

Prior to joining Denny Miller Associates in 1995, Sandy served for 11 years (1982-1993) as a legislative aide to Representative Thomas S. Foley (D-WA), former Speaker of the House of Representatives. Her primary areas of responsibility were natural resources and environmental issues and budget and appropriations legislation. From 1987-1989, during Rep. Foley’s tenure as House Majority Leader and member of the House Budget Committee, Sandy added committee staff responsibilities to her job description.

In 1990 Sandy represented the Speaker’s office during the White House/Congressional Budget Summit at Andrews Air Force Base. She also served on the staff of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee under Speaker Foley’s chairmanship.

Sandy received a B.A. degree in English from the College of William and Mary and an M.L.S. degree from Vanderbilt University. Prior to coming to Washington, D.C., she taught school at both the elementary and secondary levels.

Sandy and her husband, Mark, reside in Alexandria, Virginia with their daughter.
